Catenda Hub ↔ Autodesk Construction Cloud synchronization

Bridge Catenda Hub (formerly bimsync) and Autodesk Construction Cloud (Forma) while keeping the IFC openBIM workflow intact. DMS Sync Manager moves IFC models, drawings and metadata between the Nordic-origin openBIM CDE and the global Autodesk ecosystem — no format conversion, no manual export-import cycles.

How it works

Three steps to keep Catenda Hub and Autodesk Construction Cloud in sync.

01

Connect Catenda Hub and Autodesk Construction Cloud

Catenda Hub uses OAuth 2.0 against Catenda accounts (REST API at api.catenda.com). ACC uses 3-legged OAuth via Autodesk Platform Services. Both pair-connections are project-scoped and stored encrypted.

02

Map project + folder

Pick a Catenda project as the source and an ACC project folder as the destination — or the other way around. Per sync task you choose direction and the folder hierarchy on each side.

03

Set IFC and metadata rules

Rules filter by file type (IFC variant, PDF, DWG), label, status (Approved / Issued), or last-modified. Run hourly, daily, or on demand. Every model push is logged with file size, source version and destination version.

What customers do with it

A few real-world scenarios.

  • Mirror Catenda-approved IFC models to ACC for the project owner team or main contractor that lives in ACC.
  • Pull ACC-issued models back into Catenda for the owner's openBIM review and coordination.
  • Maintain a permanent Catenda archive of every ACC issued revision for ISO 19650 information delivery.

"Projects rarely fail in design — they fail when teams can't trust they're looking at the latest version."

Frequently asked questions

Is IFC version preserved through the sync?

Yes. IFC 2x3, IFC 4 and IFC 4x3 pass through unchanged — bytes-identical at the destination. No conversion, no re-export, no lost geometry or property sets.

Are BCF issues synced?

Not in this release. Catenda BCF issues and ACC issues stay in their respective platforms. The file/model layer is the scope of this sync.

How is access controlled?

Each project has its own connection pair. Within DMS Sync, role-based access (Manager / Admin / SuperAdmin) controls who can create, edit, or run sync tasks. Catenda and ACC permissions are independently managed in their respective platforms.

Is this ISO 19650 / EN 17412 friendly?

Yes. The activity log records every file move with timestamp, source, destination and status — the audit trail an information management plan requires. Compliance also depends on your CDE configuration in Catenda and ACC.

Is the data stored in the EU?

Sync workers run in eu-west-1 (Ireland). Files transit through the workers but are not retained; only metadata and audit logs are stored. Catenda Hub itself is EU-hosted.
